Life coaching is recognized as the single largest contributor to sustainable change. Having a life coach can profoundly affect the results you achieve in both your personal and professional life. The only difference between personal and professional coaching is the focus.
Bill Gates and Michael Dell both employed executive coaches and the CEO of Johnson & Johnson has two executive coaches to take their companies to the next level. Yes, all of these people were good to begin with, but they became great because of individual coaching.
Athletes, actors, musicians, business executives, and top performers of all kinds have been using life coaches to greatly improve their performance for decades. Michael Jordan had a “shooting” coach (among the other 5 coaches he used) to win 6 championship rings and untold MVP awards. Tiger Woods used a “swing” coach before he won the four consecutive major golf tournaments. Mariah Carey partnered with a “vocal coach” to go triple platinum with 7 different albums, selling over 160 million records. The coaching process is not limited to athletics or personal training. Life coaching assists you in unleashing your best in your professional, personal and spiritual life.
The first step in seeking happiness is learning. The more sophisticated your level of education and knowledge about what leads to happiness and what causes suffering, the more effective you will be in achieving happiness. There isn’t just one secret or key to happiness. Like caring for the physical body, you need a variety of vitamins and nutrients, not just one or two. The purpose of our life is happiness. The conscious decision to seek happiness in a systematic manner can profoundly change the rest of your life forever.
Coaching helps you identify what’s really keeping you from achieving your goals and create a plan of action accordingly A great life coach brings out the best in you in your personal life the same way that an athletic coach will bring out the best of you in the sports arena.
Watch Cindy and Hugh Reilly chat about the process of coaching:
It is imperative that the coach and client are a comfortable fit as it is a highly confidential, trust based relationship. This unique relationship requires commitment and focus on the part of the client, and an open, non-judgmental listening of the coach. The client is responsible to create their own results. The reason life coaching works is because the client chooses their own answers, create their own journeys and implements their own actions.
- An interactive process that supports individuals to achieve personal and professional goals
- Guidance for clients to clarify their vision
- A tailored system to meet the unique needs of each individual
- A structure where the coach uses a variety of tools to assist the client in setting and achieving goals in their life
- Coaching is personalized
Coaching Is Not:
- Coaching is NOT therapy – it is a support system to help move individuals to create greater results in their life
Each coaching session is unique and customized to the needs of each client. There is a clear understanding at the beginning of the session of what the expected outcomes will be for each session. There are many other questions, exercises and tools that are used throughout the coaching process.
Coaching is an investment – of your time, energy and money. It is also the most powerful way to hold yourself accountable and have access to new ways of creating results. Sessions are typically conducted on the telephone with e-mail access. Face-to-face sessions are also available at a higher investment.
